For a few months, I was locked out of my Instagram account. I could only access it by entering an OTP received on my email that is connected to my Instagram account.

But my Gmail inbox did not receive any Instagram email at all. Although, I could receive emails from other senders without any problem.

I tried every ‘fix’ I could find on the internet, I even sent my mugshots to ‘Instagram support’ multiple times. Nothing seemed to work.

One fine day last month, I could finally make it work thanks to the good old Facebook.

Before you move forward: Delete the Instagram app and Logout from Instagram in your browser.

• Creat a new account on the Facebook app. Use the same email address that you used to signup on your locked Instagram account
• Once you’ve received the login code from Facebook on your email address and you’ve created your new Facebook account, follow the next step;
• Go to the Accounts centre on your Facebook app and choose to add Instagram account to it
• You’ll be redirected to the Instagram login page on your browser. Login and you should receive the OTP email from Instagram.
